A backyard fountain or waterfall can be a centerpiece of any yard while providing a tranquil relaxing oasis, and also providing a background sound that can reduce noise from closeby neighbours. These days there all types of outdoor water features and choosing one that is right for your space may not take time at all to find what is right for your yard. This will be time well spent considering how significant a change backyard fountains actually make to your living space.
One thing to consider is size. You can opt for a very modest little water feature that helps you create a tranquil setting with a wall fountain for example, or you can choose a formidable structure that you can buld yourself from scratch that includes a pond with some koi fish, water lilies or maybe a waterfall of cascading water or stream running down some large rocks into a pond below. Of course budget should your first consideration, and any fountains, waterfalls or ponds in your yard should reflect your personal tastes as well as your personality.
The backyard fountain should also be the appropriate size for your space as it just may not look right if you have a small space for example. You may be really interested in a larger water feature for your outdoor space but your yard might not be able to adequately house such a large design. Basically, a small yard should have a smaller backyard fountain.
There are ways to get around this, though, at least when it comes to design. If you are very attracted to larger outdoor water features then you may want to look at something that has a large presence without taking up a lot of space. There are some things to look for in these smaller, but impressive backyard fountains.
Look for items that offer the most visual impact in the least amount of space. I chose a three tiered table top backyard fountain for my small outdoor area. This design is ideal for smaller spaces but it also has a very pronounced look and presence. This water feature has different tiers that offer different levels for the water along with a quiet peaceful sound. Also a double cascading copper waterfall or even table top waterfalls can be great for say a patio table or hung on an adjacent wall.
The tiered designs are wonderful because they offer height and they appear as being fairly large. However, they don’t take up too much space in spite of their great height and could be perfect for a deck or even a front door area. You don’t have to choose a very tall backyard or front yard water fountain to fill a small space. This isn’t the only approach to making a bold statement in a little area.
You may want to consider a backyard fountain that works as a bird feeder as well. Imagine having a fountain with a bowl at the bottom that birds can come by and enjoy the water at the base as a bird bath would. There are plenty of different accessories that you can purchase to add color as you may decide to add flowers and some shrubs around your project, or you might want to add some a solare powered water pump that avoids electrical outlets or solar powered lighting that adds night time visuals to the pond, waterfall or fountain.
There are lots of considerations to make before starting your project. You can start at your local building supply store or local hardware store, or do a search online and look for pictures of fountains, waterfalls, ourdoor lighting or even go to your local garden store or even your local pet shop and get quotes and more information on how you can add a tranquil oasis in your yard and be the envy of the neighbourhood with your creation. All you need to get started is a pump, a large piece of pond liner and a waterfall insert, I now love to sit and look at my new backyard fountain from my new swing set backyard I just purchased along with a swing set for my daughter.
