Wicker furniture is a popular style of furniture for many homes. This kind of furniture is unique in that it suits a vast variety of styles and designs. Whether you live in a modern dwelling or a country home, or retreat to a cottage on weekends, wicker furniture is the ideal addition to your living space. Wicker furniture is made from a variety of materials (which include willow, straw, rush, grasses, banana leaf, buri) which are usually woven over and between a rattan frame. It is durable, sturdy, versatile, lightweight and will last longer than most people will if it's well cared for.

The reason that indoor or outdoor wicker furniture is suitable for so many different types of homes is its versatile nature. The woven design is ideal for adding texture to any space and the natural material is warm, inviting and comfortable. Wicker furniture offers the perfect combination of form and function.

A cottage home is the ideal spot for this kind of casual furnishing with a typical all white wicker furniture in a nautical setting. I almost expect to find it in a quaint little cottage style home with white sheer curtains to set oft the furniture. The relaxed feel and intricate texture of the woven chairs and tables is wonderful for this modest house design. Bringing this element into the cottage dwelling is the best way to complete the warm and inviting feel that you have when entering this kind of home.

Not all rattan and wicker furniture is so quaint. Majestic Victorian homes are often adorned with this type of woven furnishing. The natural wicker material is typically covered with a crisp, white paint. The tables are commonly embellished with a charming fabric that boasts an attractive but understated design.

Rustic homes, on the other hand, embrace the natural look and feel of indoor wicker furniture. There are many primitive designs available that are striking and full of color and interest. I have to admit that the primitive wicker furniture is my personal favorite. I like to pair this look with antiques and old photographs.

Traditional homes filled with antiques, Victorian mansions and quaint cottage style homes are each ideal places for wicker furniture but let’s not forget contemporary designs as well. This kind of furniture is making headway in modern homes for good reason.

Outdoor Wicker Patio Furniture

Outdoor wicker patio furniture transforms a plain backyard to an area where friends and family can relax while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. This type of furniture is easy to clean and because of this it is very popular in outdoor living spaces such as patio living rooms, a living space such as an outdoor patio deck or a porch or garden arrea. They make great settings outdoors with some creative accessories under a tented canopy. One of the great benefits of outdoor wicker furniture is that it is relatively light, making it very easy to pick up and move in and out of storage. Full exposure wicker furniture is suitable for the outdoors and has a powder coated, all welded aluminum frame, similar to strapped aluminum furniture. When shopping for furnishings, they are available with natural, stained or painted surfaces; and some have been dipped in a special resin coating to resist fading and reduce flaking, mould and mildew.

No matter how sleek and clean a home’s interior decorating theme is, texture is still a must. Adding wicker furniture into the living room, dining room, bedroom or outdoor setting is the ideal way of giving depth and interest to any space while still keeping in tune with the modern design. The appeal of natural elements is timeless no matter what the core design of the home might be.

Wicker furniture is beautiful and generally inexpensive and can be found at a discount in many stores. With the many different uses of this kind of indoor outdoor furniture, there is no question why so many of us have adopted wicker furniture into our homes.

An indoor herb garden is not difficult to maintain
For those of you who are avid cooks, even amateur ones, a well equipped kitchen is undoubtedly a necessity. Speaking of necessities, things like a good gas or electric burner system, a refrigerator, a microwave and other electrical appliances like mixers, grinders, mashers, stirrers, blenders and the like are absolutely essential. As are vessels and cooking implements. A good amateur chef would do well to invest in a fine set of culinary knives. A more accomplished chef could also go ahead and invest in a custom set of utensils. But one thing that most amateur and professional chefs overlook, and which would add more value than any of the items listed above, is an indoor herb garden, read more...
